January 6, 2009 - Finished reading Thief With No Shadow by Eily Gee. I don't remember how I came across this. I think I liked the cover. The story was not at all what the cover led it t believe, but it turned out to be a very good story anyway. Fantasy setting, but the characters and general plot could have easily been in any genre. Ending was 4 or 5 chapters too long, but otherwise a decent read. It was the first book in a very long time that I read cover to cover in one sitting.

I don't read nearly enough anymore. But I do get to some books every once in a while. Below are the latest and current books I have read or am reading.

November 2, 2008 - I am in the middle of four part Shannara series on audio book. Being in the middle of nowhere, I drive long and far. I could never concentrate enough to enjoy audio books, but I have learned the value of passing time in the car. I'm also currently reading an anthology called Winter's Moon Not too bad, but will probably never read it again.

Path of Fate, Path of Honor, Path of Blood by Diana Pharoah Francis This was a decent trilogy by a newcomer to the fantasy genre. Fairly original and great story telling. I'm looking forward to her new series.

Dreamcatcher by Stephen King This one caught me by surprise. I was never a Stephen King fan, but someone suggested I read it. I was pleasantly surprised and have Needful Things on my shelf for the future.

God's Debris by Douglas Adams By the creator of the Dilbert comic strip, I read this when it first came out, and read it every year or so. Quick read, but will have you thinking for weeks.

World War Z by Max Brooks I read the book a little while ago after seeing an interview on Mel Brooks's son. I recently listened to it as an audio book. Really good job on the audio. Very entertaining with lots of surprise voice talents.

All material 2002-2009, Chris H Marker.
